Visual system containing symbols based on forgotten communication systems of ancient cultures, designed on a tight grid. For Chinastraat we focussed on using alternating bright flashy colours, rather edgy symbols and a bold yet rather neutral font, since the hub is polyvalent. Whereas for Bar Bricolage we used a duo of calmer colours with a more natural base, as well as curvier shapes and a more organic looking font. For this month, I went to see what kind of feeling January evokes to people. January is a month when people have the tradition to make resolutions on "improving themselves," doing better than the previous year. For me, this tradition relates to the idea of self-reflection. Using this word as a base, I started mirroring different elements of the already designed calendar into an abstract visual. This created an exciting interplay between image and text. Twaalf Maal is an annual project that brings creatives together to support charity. This unique calendar collection features twelve months of inspiring explorations of creative people.
